CARPATHIAN MTB EPIC is the ultimate wild mountain bike adventure in the heart of the Romanian mountains! Organized by MPG Romania, the event offers a memorable experience to any biker daring to explore an area considered being one of the last genuinely wild regions in Europe. This MTB challenge is designed to test the participants’ limits over 157 km of riding and 5,750 meters of climbing, during a 4-day EPIC race stage. The stunning scenery, tracks passing through mountainous areas of untamed beauty where only chamois dare to compete, an Olympic-level Race Village, the full-service concept “Eat, Sleep, Ride & Party”, a friendly atmosphere and vibrant themed dinner parties, all concur to ensure an unforgettable experience, worth being shared and further relived. Born from great passion for sports and nature, this fresh and exciting experience that will take place in Romania’s Central Carpathians is scheduled between the 21st and 24th of September 2017 and it presents two race options to choose from: a full 4-day EPIC experience or a 1-day Challenge. CARPATHIAN MTB EPIC offers an exceptional occasion to run your bike through forested areas unique throughout Europe which can be explored in an attempt to highly test your physical and mental limits. The Race Village is hosted at the Cheile Gradistei – Fundata Resort, a charming place in the county of Brasov, Romania, and an exceptional location used for Olympic-level biathlon competitions. The 4-day EPIC includes a Prologue, which is an optional qualifying race, and 3 daily stages. The Prologue (Thursday, September 21) is an XCO-type qualifying race whose results will be used to determine the competitors order at the Start line for the 1st stage. Each of the 3 stages is run on a distinct cycling route: Stage 1 on Friday (September 22) – 58 km, with 2,140 m of climbing; Stage 2 on Saturday (September 23) – 54 km, with 1,830 m of climbing; Stage 3 on Sunday (September 24) – 45 km, with 1,780 m of climbing. The second option for riders is to subscribe to a single day race and take the 1-day Challenge, which gives entrance to the race on Sunday (September 24) – 45 km, with 1,780 m of climbing.
