Tuscany Road 2018
Taking inspiration from the more popular Tuscany Trail, we have studied an extraordinary route taking advantage of the most beautiful asphalt roads in Tuscany and we have combined the philosophy of the “unsupported bicycle adventure”. Therefore, it is not a race, but an adventure; there are no final results and no time limit to reach your destination.
The world of road bikes is, by its very nature, focused on the race, caring for sporting performance and with the chronometer always in hand. With Tuscany Road, we tried to make the cyclist raise their head thanks to the beauty of Tuscany. We tried to slow down their race to make them enjoy the sunsets of Val d’Orcia as well as the sunrises by the sea. We tried to dissuade them from the food bars by tempting them with a dish of Pici all’aglione (typical Tuscan pasta made using a specific type of garlic) and a Florentine steak. In the end, we managed to do that.
WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
As the name suggests, Tuscany will act as a stage for this event. A succession of beautiful and unique landscapes, medieval old towns interspersed with a unique nature shaped by man, lines of cypress trees, country houses, medieval villages, streets carved into the tuff, quarries dug into the marble, the Maremma geometries drawn between sand bars and dunes, crystal clear sea that washes sunny islands are the stage of this adventure. All that is set in a region that offers unparalleled food and wine excellence. Finally, the reception of the Tuscan people is noteworthy.
The Tuscany Road will be a 550 km ride on your bike, from North to South, self-sufficient as true adventurers of the 21st century. The route will be completely on asphalt. Departure from Massa (MS) and arrival in Capalbio (GR). Along the route, you will cross several cities, such as Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, Pitigliano and Manciano. From the rugged Apuan Alps to the southern coast, going through the Chianti area and the Val d’Orcia.
